The secret government of O.S.Z sent a group of scientists under military guard to investigate, but they disappeared without a trace. Their fate is still a mystery to this day. After their disappearance, many stalkers tried to enter the northern part of the Zone, but also disappeared. Anomalous activity in the Zone has increased, strong psi-fields and new mutants have appeared.
