Game description

AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected is a love letter to Japanese animators sent by a team of two.

The game takes you on a very unusual adventure in a charming and wacky 3D world filled with 2D characters.

AWAY is a short, lighthearted story filled with action, lighthearted discussions, rebellious elements, and smashing a bunch of cute creatures to overcome each obstacle..

  • A 3-5 hour adventure in a colorful world filled with unique visuals, with 2D characters living in a 3D world.
  • Unravel a fun and lighthearted story with just the right amount of rebellious elements.
  • Recruit up to 8 quirky heroes, each with their own unique abilities.
  • An anime-style soundtrack composed by Kazuhiko Naruz and performed by Aya Marijo!

Dear villagers, we may release evil forces while working. Sorry, be careful,” says the song by Labiworks.

It seems your neighbors need to get rid of monsters. AWAY could have been one of those bloody FPS games if you weren’t a harmless kid armed with… a wooden stick.

As you get into danger, investigate the disappearance of your parents, and very strange events, you’ll need to find allies. Luckily, you have a lot of strange but strong heroes in your neighborhood.

You may not be ruthless, but you’re very good at making friends! From an angry tree throwing mines, to a rocket-launching robot, or a fireball-throwing but short-sighted football player, you’ll be in good company!

See the world through the eyes of your allies in first person as you call out to them. Be careful, it can be quite a visual experience! And don’t wear them out too quickly!

AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected is developed by a two-man team – Aurelien Regard (a video game developer who previously released The Next Penelope) and Jim Ginnisson (former level designer for Rayman Legends and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom).
