Paper Cut Mansion is a horror RPG set in a papercraft world. Play as Toby, a police detective who has arrived at a mysterious old mansion. Paper Cut Mansion offers you the opportunity to define your playstyle by unlocking new abilities and discovering new gear that will give you a better chance of overcoming the challenges that each procedurally generated level presents. Each new item allows you to customize your final build, allowing for truly unique combinations. Do you want to get up close and personal as a melee fighter or take aim from afar as a marksman?
Create a drone to do the fighting for you, or an engineer to set traps and turrets to trap enemies in. Completing missions also grants you temporary benefits, making each run feel fresh, as you may not get the same benefits to choose from next time! The possibilities are endless, and there is no right way to overcome the mansion’s ever-changing procedural rooms.
The mansion itself also has the ability to jump dimensions. Each floor has portals that take you to alternate versions of the same place. Each dimension changes the aesthetics and gameplay. You always start in the NeoCortex dimension, which is like an escape room full of challenges, puzzles, and surprises.
From there, you’ll receive quests that will take you to the Reptilian Complex and Limbic System dimensions. In Reptilian Complex, the mansion takes on a fiery appearance as it’s overrun with monsters. In Limbic System, the mansion is engulfed in an icy cold. You’ll need to move quickly and stay close to heat sources, as the cold will hinder your ability to find hidden items or torches to light.
With a variety of enemies, clues, quests, secrets, loot, and interesting logic puzzles scattered throughout the mansion, there’s always something intriguing to discover in each playthrough. There’s always something to keep track of, from kit upgrades to puzzles to solve to missions to complete. There’s a musical interlude between each level that reveals the twisting plot, and the decisions you make throughout the game subtly influence the final outcome – there are 27 different endings to choose from at the end of the game.
All of this, coupled with the incredible aesthetics, makes Paper Cut Mansion a game you won’t want to miss.
