LEWIS AND CLARK COUNTY, MONTANA, USA
Ten years ago, young Nicole and her mother left the family hotel after learning of Nicole’s father Leonard’s affair with a girl named Rachel, her pregnancy, and her suicide.
Now, after the death of her parents, Nicole returns to her homeland to fulfill her mother’s last will: sell the hotel and talk to Rachel’s relatives. She arrives with the family lawyer to assess the condition of the old house.
The weather suddenly turns bad, and Nicole is forced to wait out the storm in a huge hotel in the mountains. Her only assistant is Irving, a young employee of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with whom the girl maintains contact via an old radiotelephone.
Nicole and Irving begin investigating a case that turns out to be much more complicated than the locals think. This is a story about love and death, where nostalgia and melancholy are closely intertwined with chilling ghost stories.
