“Clad in Iron: Chincha Islands 1866” is a historical naval game about the Chincha Islands War, combining turn-based digital board strategy and real-time simulation.
The Chincha Islands War, also known as the Spanish–South American War (Spanish: Guerra hispano-sudamericana), was a series of coastal and naval battles fought between Spain and its former colonies of Peru, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia between 1865 and 1866. The conflict began with the Spanish seizure of the guano-rich Chincha Islands.
Amid unresolved diplomatic issues, unpaid debts, mutual distrust, and misinformation, the accidental presence of a Spanish naval flotilla on the Pacific coast led to a pointless military conflict.
