Historically accurate strategy games about World War II are not necessarily turn-based hexagonal wargames, and Codename: Panzers successfully proves this. The game is a fully 3D tactical strategy in real time, but has nothing in common with RTS clones. The Hungarian company Stormregion, which has already received recognition for its debut project S.W.I.N.E., created an amazingly detailed and elaborate imitation of battles – from small skirmishes on narrow city streets or in the mountains, to serious tank battles on the plains and swamps. The game covers almost the entire course of the war, except for the battles in Africa. The campaign for Germany begins with the invasion of Poland, and the last mission for the USSR will be the battle for Berlin. Codename: Panzers presents all aspects of military tactics of those years. Even a couple of infantrymen can neutralize a dozen tanks if they have grenade launchers and the player has the necessary dexterity. Battles in open spaces will require a completely different approach from you than battles within the city or in the forests. All weapons and equipment of the warring parties are displayed in the game with amazing meticulousness and accuracy, and therefore you will have to build your tactics, taking into account not only the number of troops available to you and the enemy, but also their weapons and equipment. It is safe to say that history buffs and connoisseurs of high-quality strategies will not get bored in Codename: Panzers!
