Making History offers the open-ended gameplay of classic strategy games, but with brand new economic, military and diplomatic systems and deep research that lets you take part in real historical events.

The game takes you to the rich world of WWII, where each nation has its own plans and where events depend on a single alliance. Work with the weaknesses and strengths of your nation. Build up your economy, infrastructure, economy and military. Create alliances. Change your strategy as the situation in the world changes.

• The rich world of WWII: MAKING HISTORY: The Calm & the Storm includes over 80 nations and over 800 regions. Each nation has detailed characteristics based on extensive research, including economy and military strength, diplomatic relations, ideology and technical equipment. Each region has its own unique terrain, infrastructure, resources, etc.
• You are your Nation: Enter a living world where each nation has its own goals and where events can cause alliances to break apart. Develop strategies based on historical facts about your nation’s strengths and weaknesses, and revise your plans based on the reaction to your actions. Play as Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the USSR, the United States of America, or China.
• Advanced Combat: The innovative combat system offers different approaches to battle, from massive assaults to defensive actions. Supplies, reinforcements, and geography all influence your battle plan.
• More Options: Use unique unit abilities to attack and defend, engage in bloody battles with hordes of infantry, destroy enemy industry with bombers, and sink enemy fleets from a distance with military task forces. With scientific research, you can unlock more powerful military units, and each unit uses a detailed 3D model.
• A Complex World Economy: The game’s economic system models the connections between global power and economic strength. Players manage trade, taxes, industrial and infrastructure development, and areas of scientific research.
• Powerful Alliance System: Whether you make or break alliances, declare war or offer peace, every action affects your relations with other nations and their willingness to ally with you. If you don’t have strong allies, you’re more likely to be attacked.
• Historical Scenarios: Six scenarios challenge you to begin the game at a critical moment, focus on a specific event, or play out an entire war. Scenarios include the Fall of France, Pearl Harbor, the Allied invasion of Europe, the Sudetenland Crisis, and many more, each based on historical research. You can succeed where others have failed, or take different paths and see what happens next.
• Great replayability: Each scenario puts you in a different situation. Each nation you play as has its own objectives. Everything depends on your economic and military decisions, as well as the actions and reactions of other nations.
• Single and multiplayer turn-based modes: Innovative simultaneous play is fast and responsive, giving you control without lag. Play with up to 8 other players in multiplayer mode, use the in-game chat to create a cooperative strategy or make secret agreements. Will you be a loyal ally or a tyrant traitor?
• Modding tools: Use the included Scenario Editor to modify scenarios or create your own.
