It is well known that the battles fought by the Americans in the Pacific Islands against the Japanese during World War II were extremely difficult and brutal. The goal of this operational strategy game is to allow players to discover the last and largest battle of the war, the Battle of Okinawa.
Codenamed Operation Iceberg, it was a major battle of the Pacific War fought on the island of Okinawa by the United States Army (USA) and United States Marine Corps (USMC) against the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). On April 1, 1945, the invasion of Okinawa began, which was the largest amphibious attack in the Pacific theater of World War II.
the 82-day battle lasted from April 1 to June 22, 1945. After a lengthy campaign to recapture the islands, the Allies planned to use Kadena Air Base on the main island of Okinawa as a base for Operation Downfall, the planned invasion of the Japanese home islands 340 miles (550 km) away.
Referred to as the “Typhoon of Steel,” the battle was the bloodiest in the Pacific, with an estimated 160,000 military casualties: at least 50,000 Allied and 84,166,117,000 Japanese, including Okinawan conscripts wearing Japanese uniforms. According to local authorities, at least 149,425 Okinawans were killed, committed suicide, or went missing—roughly half the prewar population of about 300,000.

This game is playable on both sides, and you have a variety of units at your disposal, from mobile infantry, tanks, and aircraft to static defenses such as bunkers, trenches, tunnels, and mines. Your careful play and balance of unit combinations, as well as clever use of cards (which you receive each turn to aid your strategy), will allow you to achieve your winning goals: either capturing the island without major losses (on the US side), or holding it until the end, inflicting major losses on the attacker (if playing as Japan).
This game puts you in the most brutal battle between the US Marine Corps and the US Army during the Pacific War, Okinawa, and you can play as both sides:
As in previous battles of the war, the death toll was incredible and the fighting was extremely intense, right up until the very end.
Can you defy history and, like the American commander, take your key objectives in the shortest time possible and with minimal casualties? Or, like the Imperial Japanese commander, can you fight these doomed battles at a cost that is unbearable to the enemy?
The battle takes place at battalion scale on both sides. Air units are typically equivalent to regular CV Carrier Air Groups (CAGs) (3 squadrons for CV, one for CVL). Fixed units such as bunkers, trenches, or mines are multiple objects or buildings.
