Tank Warfare: Longstop Hill

The British spring offensive in Tunisia was stopped at the approaches to Jebel al-Ahmera (Longstop Hill) by the German 5th Panzer Army. The German forces took up defensive positions on key heights along the highway leading to the capital of Tunis. Despite fierce enemy resistance, units of the British 78th Infantry Division (78th “Battleaxe” Division), supported by Churchill tanks from the North Irish Horse regiment, advance along the highway.
